Personal Development
Leadership & Decision-Making
My capstone placement has facilitated the growth of my leadership and decision-making skills. I am called upon daily to make challenging, real-time decisions that affect employees, customers, and our bottom-line. For example, choosing whether or not to close a route for a day impacts pay checks, home owners, and the company's earning potential. However, there are times when those things must be weighed against our capacity and safety.
Classroom Connections:
Culture
I have learned a great deal about the impact of culture on my future business. Therefore, I spend a great deal of time investing in our office culture. I listen to our employees, greet everyone with a smile, and I treat others well. I have also learned from Brene' Brown that, "clear is kind," and I am kind but direct in my communications. This has created a sense of trust in our organization. I believe that when I become owner, I will be well positioned to move my goals forward because of the connections I have built.
